The media could not be loaded.Long overdue review for a very great system as I’ve used the V5Pro on the daily for over a year.Overall, definitely a 5 STAR system. Simple and very easy to install. Wired connection was a must have for me, less likely to have interference or video loss with a solid wired hookup. Plus, less wireless signals interfering with phone calls, radio signals, and less signals beaming around my head or those I love. Parking mode recording is a bonus, if you’re worried about a parallel parking tap from someone, it’s nice to have some evidence they did it. Touchscreen is responsive, able to snap photos with just a couple taps. Can lock files on the fly with a couple taps. Can turn the screen on or off again with a couple taps. All around very easy to use while driving, which is another reason I chose the V5Pro from Auto-Vox. The screen has adaptive brightness, which is very nice as I prefer a much dimmer interior to maximize nighttime awareness of what’s going on around me so adjusting the screen is one less thing to worry about. The auto switch to a different view when reversing is a nice touch, especially when parking, or attaching something to the hitch. You can even add the reverse lines if you like. Or you can simply turn this feature off and use your finger to adjust the view if need be, also a very nice touch. Overall the design is very well thought out. For those that mention the camera on the front of the mirror being on the right side, you are not wrong for pointing this out. But as you may know much of the World drives on the other side of the road with the steering wheel mounted on the right side. Sure, Auto-Vox could have created a model for left sided steering wheels but I’m sure that would have cost a great deal more, and may have increased the price of an already well done system. Also, if you use the live stream video as your all the time rearview like I usually do, just center the mirror since you don’t need the angled view and boom better front angled camera. This also remedies the headlights and reflection from vehicles behind you. I actually remounted my mirror all the way up to the top of my windshield (just heat up the button, and reattach it higher). There is no glare from anything and I have a much better view through the windshield. Also, the rearview mirror is more shaded and reduces the chance of the sun prematurely retiring this system from damage. The cameras are pretty good, granted I wish they were more polarized to reduce the glare from the dashboard on the windshield, but this is minor. Would be great if they had polarized lens caps like some other manufacturers have. The color and detail are pretty nice. A bit washed out in bright days, but hey this isn’t a home video camera. It’s there to document nonstop incase something happens and you need proof. Which it does very well, along with plenty of other features. Actually saved me from the hassle of fighting a speeding ticket… Funny story…Got pulled over instead of the person that was really speeding next to me, whom quickly slowed down when they saw the officer. When the officer pulled me over and proceeded in an attempt to ticket me for speeding, I smiled and said “You’ve got the wrong guy!” He laughed and said that’s not the first time he’s heard that. I then explained the car he tagged with his radar was the one next to me. He again laughed and said “Also heard that one before” . So I smiled and said, “Well, you might not have heard this one before, you mind taking a look at my rearview for a minute? Have a short video I’d like you to watch. Unless of course you’d like to see me in court.” I then proceeded to show him the reverse camera video, showing the other car way off in the distance behind me closing in extremely fast and then braking dramatically and matching my speed, at which point I then got pulled over instead of him. He again laughed and said “You’re right, I’ve never heard that one before. Sorry for taking up any of your time.” At which point I smiled and drove away without a ticket. Felt pretty damn good too. Instantly paid for itself. (Also, with audio recording on the mirror you will have any conversation with an officer recorded. You can turn this feature off and on with a couple taps, as I usually have it off.)If you have any issues as any tech is sure to have with daily use and the torcher of being in a hot car, Auto-Vox is extremely quick to respond. They will undoubtedly resolve any issue and provide the best way to remedy your given situation. I reached out and received prompt assistance. Was sent new firmware and directions on how to update the system. This was very nice to experience a company, a brand, standing behind their products. Auto-Vox had my business, and now they have my confidence and respect… And of course future business. I can say I also get plenty of compliments on the V5Pro all the time, how it so clean, no wires everywhere, factory finish at every point. I’m always quick to show off the features and explain why it’s such a great system. I know quite a few people that have purchased this system with my strong recommendation. Cause it really is a very well designed, well made, and well backed system. Definitely Auto-Vox V5Pro for the win.For the future, I do hope Auto-Vox V5Pro design continues to evolve. Would really like to see more feature settings, the ability to dim the screen at different levels depending on the drivers taste, options to also turn off the screen with a double tap instead of a long press (sometimes the long press takes a few tries, could be due to the temperature in the vehicle at he time), some more cameras choices (maybe get rid of the proprietary connectors so extension cables can be added for better wire routing), polarized lens caps would be nice, the option to add more cameras (like left and right outside mirror mounted cameras, this is where most factory systems cameras shine). With the option to set it to automatically switch to one when the turn signal is on. This would be such a nice feature. Not to mention, it would add 360 degree recording. As it stands the only fatal flaw in a two camera dashcam system is the blind spot of the left and right side of the vehicle. Have been considering adding another camera system just for this reason. But alas, this is an afterthought from having this system for well over a year. But Auto-Vox if you’re reading this, don’t forget to add the ability to view all 4 camera views at the same time on the mirror! Without the auto switch back to only the rearview. In traffic or extreme weather this can aid dramatically in navigating to safety (speaking from experience).Thank you Auto-Vox and to all those who had a hand in it from creation, design, software, hardware, technical support, and customer service for providing an exceptional product.Keep up the good work!
